"LPL", List Player Levels Utility
for use with
The Immortal Struggle
Created, programmed and copyright (C)1993 by Chris Rea [UL]
A multiplayer online game for BBX, DLG-Pro, FalconCBCS, and Xenolink
Release Date: 12-Feb-93
How To Use LPL
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LPL (which stands for List Player Levels) is a small utility for use in
conjunction with The Immortal Struggle online game. LPL will search through
the "TIS_Players.dat" file in the current directory and then output a list, in
ascending order by Entity Level, all active entities found in the file.
Why is this useful you ask? If you would like to have a contest game of
T.I.S. to last a definite period of time, such a utility helps in locating the
Entity with the highest Level of understanding in the game so they may be
designated the "winner".
I realize that due to the nature of the game itself, a complete game may
last for a few weeks or a few months, or even longer, depending on the amount
of competition generated. Using LPL you can tell after a definite period of
time who has "won", instead of waiting for somebody to reach the apex of a
mountain and obliterate the continuum, which may take a long time.
The LPL command takes no arguments. You must execute it in the directory
where the "TIS_Players.dat" file is located. If it does not locate the file in
the current directory it will tell you so. Otherwise, it will read all active
(ie: non-deleted/suicided) entities into memory, quicksort them using their
Level of understanding as primary sort key, and then output them.
Have fun!
